Tato vlastnost se u zeolitu vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 v procesu filtrace, a to jak p\u0159i filtrov\u00e1n\u00ed vody, tak i k o\u010dist\u011b ovzdu\u0161\u00ed. Tento miner\u00e1l dok\u00e1\u017ee absorbovat nejen mechanick\u00e9 ne\u010distoty, ale i n\u011bkter\u00e9 toxick\u00e9 l\u00e1tky, nap\u0159. amoniak. Jak v\u00edte, \u010dpavek je ve vod\u011b ne\u017e\u00e1douc\u00ed, zvl\u00e1\u0161t\u011b ve vod\u011b pitn\u00e9 anebo v baz\u00e9nech, kam se snadno dost\u00e1v\u00e1 z na\u0161\u00ed poko\u017eky. Lidsk\u00fd pot toti\u017e d\u00edky p\u016fsoben\u00ed bakteri\u00ed obsahuje \u010dpavek, sice v mal\u00e9 koncentraci, ale je to odpadn\u00ed l\u00e1tka, a ta se samoz\u0159ejm\u011b do vody velmi rychle uvoln\u00ed. Pokud je baz\u00e9n vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1n intenzivn\u011b, koncentrace \u010dpavku tam m\u016f\u017ee vzr\u016fst na ne\u017e\u00e1douc\u00ed \u00farove\u0148 a tu zeolit dok\u00e1\u017ee efektivn\u011b sn\u00ed\u017eit a t\u00edm p\u00e1dem tak\u00e9 zastoupit baz\u00e9novou chemii.   Zna\u010dnou v\u00fdhodou zeolitu je, \u017ee jej lze snadno rozdrtit na r\u016fzn\u011b velk\u00e9 \u010d\u00e1sti (frakce), a t\u00edm p\u00e1dem jej lze pou\u017e\u00edt v mnoha aplikac\u00edch. M\u016f\u017ee plnit okrasnou funkci jako posypov\u00fd materi\u00e1l na zahrad\u00e1ch \u010di kolem z\u00e1klad\u016f dom\u016f, m\u016f\u017ee se p\u0159id\u00e1vat do substr\u00e1tu pro p\u011bstov\u00e1n\u00ed rostlin anebo nahrad\u00ed k\u0159emi\u010dit\u00fd p\u00edsek v baz\u00e9nov\u00e9 filtraci. Filtra\u010dn\u00ed frakce v baz\u00e9nech m\u00e1 velikost mezi 0,6 a\u017e 1,2 mm a na jej\u00edch vn\u011bj\u0161\u00edch ostr\u00fdch hran\u00e1ch se zachycuj\u00ed dal\u0161\u00ed ne\u010distoty, \u010d\u00edm\u017e se filtra\u010dn\u00ed schopnost je\u0161t\u011b navy\u0161uje.
